Description Of Works

This package of work – Fire Safety Works 4 – is the latest phase of works being carried out by Graham Construction to maintain or improve the fire safety provision within Monklands hospital. This particular package comprises the installation of new M&E systems, including fire detection, in selected areas within the hospital and will be delivered by Marmac Services Ltd. The areas affected comprise:
East tower:
• First Floor
• Fourth Floor
West Tower:
• Second Floor
• Fourth Floor
Access will also be required to adjoining areas in order to install the required infrastructure. The project comprises isolation and temporary protection of all existing services; the installation of new 60min fire rated partitions and or plasterboard over cladding – see Architects drawings refer to list on the following page; the subsequent reconnection of all services, including all necessary compartmentation accessories; the revised ceiling installation and / or replacement where required; the decoration of all works and the reinstallation of all finishing’s / group 2&3 items. Upon completion, each floor will create 2no 60min fire compartments. The existing fire panel will then be readdressed to reflect this. All works to be completed to the satisfaction of the NEC supervisor.

The existing cause and effect schedule should also be updated to reflect the new installation. Downtime of the existing system should be agreed in advance with NHSL estates team and minimized.

The works are to be carried out and financed through THE 2016/7 year’s budget.
